Our Post Polio Syndrome therapy addresses the nervous system directly in order to recover function that was available after recovery from acute polio and before the affects of PPS.

Age or length of time since the onset of PPS does not seem to be a major factor in the ability to recover lost function. The most difficult problems are usually habitual in day to day activities that have resulted from progressive weakness.

The treatment regime is based on the concept that multiple factors affect progressive pain and weakness. To be truly effective, it appears necessary to address all these factors simultaneously.

Present indications are that the treatment format may both stop the immediate progression of post polio syndrome and simultaneously improves strength, range of motion, endurance and comfort in a high percentage of patients with post polio syndrome.

The methods used are:

• Open floatation tanks
• Massage
• Passive range of motion exercises
• Sensory massage

All methods are designed to reduce the amount of stress on the nervous system and stimulate nerve cells.

Common Improvements

• Increase muscle tone and mass
• Increase strength
• Decrease in fatigue level
• Improvement in coordination and mobility
• Decrease in pain ( aches and muscular pain
